History
Having met in college as computer science majors, Les and Joanne Wilson have
always enjoyed technology. They bought their first home computer --
an original 128K Macintosh -- in March 1984, two weeks before their
first daughter Joy was born. It was love at first sight: with both
the Mac and the daughter. Their second lovely daughter, Faith, arrived
in 1988. When they added a second computer they realized that, just
like the children, it would be simpler to give them catchy names rather
than refer to them as “the
big one ” and “the
little one.” Being astute readers of humor columnist Dave Barry, they
named the computers after Dave Barry’s main dog Ernest and his emergency
backup dog Zippy. Since that time they've owned many different Macintosh
models, most having dog names: Ernest, Zippy, Rover, Buster, Max, Cookie,
.... thus the name Doghouse.
Meanwhile, the Wilsons began producing videos as a family hobby. Each family
member developed their own areas of expertise: Les in cinematography
and production, Joanne in web design and still photography, Joy in music
and digital audio, and Faith in video editing and live production.
Somehow the name Doghouse became associated with the family projects, and on
January 1, 2001, the Wilsons created Doghouse Digital Ministries with
the purpose of reaching out to others through digital media. On January
1, 2006, they established Doghouse Digital Media, Inc. as the commercial
arm of the Doghouse. So far the Doghouse has completed more than 200
digital productions, all using Macintosh computers.
